Just as her Mother

Just as her Mother

A Poem by Maya Roberts

A girl is just as her mother

She can be kind and gentle

Or hard and kill in cold blood

Whether she wants it or not

She is just as her mother

A dark figure

Reflecting off a frigid broken mirror

And no matter how hard she tries

She gets caught, fish in net

Trapped by her mother’s selfish ways

Try as she may

But she can’t help or change

Her mother’s flaws are stitched and tatted onto her

Eternally
