Mariana

Mariana

A Poem by Hollow Man

I see no reason to be, since I will always be,

Something, nothing, to someone and no one…

I am deep as the Mariana Trench. Drowning

In neuro-oceans. Burning, melting, molten

And iron cast. Bionic. Alive as ash glaring

At the past, shallow enough to choke

On sun forsaken rain, oil-slicked and sick

As waxed over candle wick and jarred beets

With Ball rusted tops on shelves built on dust.

Breath wears thin as a waning moon tied to

A rooftop garden with glass ceilings, watered as

Ophelia’s concealed cadence. Doesn’t feel a thing,

Not even a dying stars last whisper, a simple request

                               For nothing.

I see no reason to be, since I will always be,

Something, nothing, to someone and no one…

Powerful opening...I think we all have defining moments where we question what we are...what will we become...or are we just here...taking up space...
Is it enough to just be...
You end on a dismal note...no one is just nothing...curious how we can feel that way sometimes...
Your writing is colorful and riveting...your descriptions are poignant...
These alone justify the air you breath...

This was an amazing write. You should have come out with something like this sooner, dear. What a captivating piece of work. :-) Great wording, and great imagery you send to the reader.

A powerful poem. It is very sad. The description and use of words is amazing. I had to read a few times. You can write a poem that the words draws the reader in. I like the ending. A outstanding poem. Thank you.
