The 600 rode

The 600 rode to their death.

They ride for a cause, from the past is owed an unpaid dept.

Ride on brave courses.

For you will perish this day.

Ride for the ones that were massacred that day.

Charge through the valley of death was the cry.

Onward, onward the 600 they ride.

Death on both sides, death to the front, death as they ride, stay true to your course.

Death all around, forward they ride.

Their purpose is seen running away.

Hiding like a coward in the smoke and the fray.

Lances sprang from his body, the coward now stayed.

Back through the valley road what was left from the fray.

Again, they ride through the valley of death.

At the end of the day only 12 had still lived.

The Country that spurred them, and sent them to fight, has now abandoned them for the rest of their life’s’.

Remember the ones you send to fight.

They will need you for the rest of their life’s.

We could be talking about the Alamo but I could be wrong. As a poem it grabs the attention to find out what happened and then it leaves us with sadness...Bravo
