Dead and Wrong

Dead and Wrong

A Poem by Rosauro Brillantes
"

A poem I wrote while I was in jail

"
I try look out into the world from behind these bars
But behind this fogged mirror I see lights flashing from passing cars
So I lay down on my bed and I try my hardest to sleep
But the troubles in my mind has lately been running very deep
I made a few mistakes when freedom to me was not a thing
I'm reminded about my regrets everytime the inmates sing
The cells become cold and the lights are always bright
When freedom is an issue, it's very hard to sleep through the night
I wish I could take back time, when innocence was my close friend
But instead they threw me in here. They will never understand
I know that I was wrong, but sorry will never do
So my sorry for them is seeing they take my humanity away too
