Mrs. Kenney

Mrs. Kenney

A Poem by Rosauro Brillantes
"

For my drama teacher who saved my life

"
I lie fixed and stuck to the ground
With my eyes towards the sky
My soul is lost but my body's been found
It's time i get back my life

With all my strength I pick myself up
But then I fall back to the ground
I want to give up. I've had just enough
I look and there's no one around

I sleep one more night, but in fact it's been days
Since I've looked to the left and the right
Asking for help, he begs and he prays
But still, there is no one in sight

More years pass on byand I lay on the dust
My tears, I will drink for my lips
Slowly in time, I'll erode just like dust
And I'll feel the flaking of chips

But out of this light come a drizzle of rain
Inside I slowly feel sunny
Maybe one day, I will no longer feel pain
Because I have my mentor to thank - Mrs. Kenney
