The Collection Bin is Full

The Collection Bin is Full

A Poem by Rose Kelly
"

Here is a new poem online before it goes live on ICitizenmag.com, later this month.

"

Oh the tipped over lies

Spilled and almost there
Can the tough tell us?
The edge draws so near
Minds forget

Can elder bring memories?
No
They are lost to time
What we once were
Better
Truer forms than those that meet the eye now
Once we were human
Kindness overflowed

Now the wells have dried and we are gone
 Sold the birthright
That which could have

Should have

Saved us
Sold
Even the river drowns now
Life was bitter so we sold it to taste the sugar
It melted faster than the years
So we find ourselves gone

All the while trying

To be here
Nothing to hold in the extra bits
We are let lose upon a knowing world and it has called our debt
We hand the payment

Sweet and slick
Having forgotten what lies within the envelope
We have gone

Too far now

Not even humanity to miss us
We have taken and now we give what is not ours
Souls and money and time
That which could have been shall never pass
For time has come and the collection bin is full
