Searing

Searing

A Poem by Cadence Killday

The falling drops of acid rain

Struck my skin

With searing pain.

And though the water filled my mouth,

It couldn’t drown my screaming out.

As I swallowed more

It killed my lungs

But the searing pain

Has just begun.

And though the water filled my mouth,

It couldn’t drown my screaming out.

It ate through my skin

Inside and out

Voice was destroyed

I tried to shout

But though the water filled my mouth,

It couldn’t drown my screaming out.
