a january boy

a january boy

A Poem by Rowe Boat

"curry?'"
okay.
and it was.
it was okay.
"not the best," you'd say
(you'd always say)

I remember the fake flowers-
and how we noted that we looked like Clementine and Joel
funny, really.

and we looked at the man and his wife
(happy)
and we talked about the weather
(dull)
and we sat on either end of the table,
The one you said was tacky
(it was)

you cried a lot that night
and I did too-
you for one reason and I for another,
I still don't understand how you were able to convince me
that you don't
feel
