Minor Chords

Minor Chords

A Poem by rubie

Minor Chords

My life used to be

a blues song

twelve bar wails

bent easily

from
 the pentatonic scale

with brilliant turnarounds

that let in momentary
shards of sunlight

to
 salve my soul

and
 get me ready

for
the next chorus

but oh how quickly

these bluesy minor chords

morph into
dancing major ones

stacked one upon the next

when you show up with
piercing liquid eyes

these bluesy minor chords

morph over to
dancing major ones

stacked one upon the next

Lovely metaphor! I hope that the author was able to later create a great melody of such auspicious beginnings.

Ah Rubie dear...being a retired piano teacher myself I most assuredly enjoyed this write! I of course understand the musical terms and the way you've woven them into this amazing and well written poem is fabulous. I look forward to reading more of your work. Welcome to the Cafe. ~Sharon

Those major chords will get us every time. I love music and blues is one of my favorite genres to listen to, Delta or Chicago or otherwise. You've created a beautiful riff here and despite the major notes, I'll be back to look for those soul salving licks. Love it!

i like the way the poem seems stacked upon itself, which creates the feeling of the theme...and how those blues pile up...the little things adding up to become big things...
