Empty nest syndrome

Empty nest syndrome

A Poem by Bewitching Sensations
"

My four children are grown up and gone... the house screeches with emptiness

"

One cup and one spoon
Lay forlorn in the bowl.
While i gaze out of the glass.
Time 'n' remorse created a link.

Silence surrounds me,
The nest is now empty.
My children now flown
They've all left the city.

As i watch the kids playing
Laughter and life and fun
I recollect the memories
Where have my children gone?

Aimlessly i wander in a daze,
Through the empty rooms.
Once full of chatter and clutter,
Nursery rhymes and tunes.

My knowledge now a waste,
All i hear is echoes of footsteps,
In every room of the house.
Now silence i must except!

As a mother bird without her babies,
I'm flightless,flying aimless.
No longer able to nurture and care,
I shed tears, totally shameless.

That was sweet and a little sad at the same time. I have a young Niece and I miss her when she's gone but what I love is catching myself after she has left and I"m on the couch still watching her little kid cartoons heh or even worse singing along to the songs

we have to let them go....As long as they come back once in a while....It is a strange thing being a parent, it seems to be such an unselfish act but then again it is so enjoyable so how can that be true?

I do understand, as I left my mom for college and now that I have a child I think I might be writing the same thing in seven years, wonderfully penned.

you are so kind thankyou x

How time moves along, heartless to our fondness. It is amazing how fast changes come and how unstoppable is the force of change.

Beautiful, heartwrending poem..

certainly is.. :)
Shouldn't it be "silence I must accept?" Seems like it'd make more sense...

Other than that, really great stuff. If you set out to tug at the heartstrings, you definitely succeeded. I was captivated right from the title (which was perfect, by the way)!
