ADMIRE A SPIDER

ADMIRE A SPIDER

A Poem by rutherford
"

I really do admire spiders for their creations.

"

Oh how I admire

that spider

with a web that is stronger and shinier

than anything I could create.

No design

No blueprints

A complex creation done without her

pausing to see

which is why I decide

to just let it be.

I saw a documentary this weekend, rutherford, about a blind man who is builidng his own house without blueprints. Incredible, isn't it? Kind of reminds me of your poem. I liked this one very much.

I'm scared to touch those darn things - just think how flies must feel! But, yes, webs, especially when adorned with dew drops, are indeed beautiful creations. But don't you feel just a little guilty, rutherford? Just think of all the flies whose early demise you ensured by not touching that web!
Nice poem - I enjoyed it.

From the weird coincidence files... at lunch today we were discussing spider webs that have been showing up around our homes lately. This must be "webbing season". We had an enormous, intricate web stretched across our window for three days; the spider herself was big, black and hungry... lots of snacks were caught up in the strings. I agree with you - she worked too hard for me to just tear it down... love this, John!

It is a wise creature that avoids the spider's web. Such wisdom is best admired at a distance.

Very enjoyable piece. Simple words of the simple beauty of complex nature. Please read my poem To where a snowflake dies.

Frieda, thanks for being a fan of the poem and making room for spiders just this once.
