Forest Fire

Forest Fire

A Poem by Zach Colgate
"

These are lyrics that I wrote, expressing feelings of uworthiness in regards to love interests.

"

(Verse 1)

You are the sun in the day

And I am the dark of the night

Horizons hold me at bay

While children grow in your light

(Chorus 1)

We dance the dance

Of what could never be

Love without a glance

From your eyes to me

(Verse 2)

You are the trees the Lord grew

I am the fire my father made

Too close; these arms will burn you

I pray the wind blows till I fade

(Chorus 2)

We sing the song

Of what should never be

Love that would be wrong

To waste your purity

(Verse 3)

A daughter of Heaven could never love

A wayward son of the Earth

Dogs can't fly with the birds above

And dirt can't change what its worth

Wow, this is absolutely some of the best lyrics I've read so far. It's so original and I love how you describe yourself by all these metaphors. Wonderful work! ^_^

I love the metaphors in the poem especially the last two lines it ended the poem nicely.
