![]() LightA Poem by Shi-Ann L.![]() I wrote this poem trying to address the struggle of depression, but also including how things can get better with help from a little light.![]() Pain The cuts of sharp words spoken Left on your heart Stitched from the people who pretend to care But they never stay They are constantly ripped back out Your heart left a mess of scars Leaving you thinking it may never heal Hurting your mind, the confusion a swirling tornado Increasing to degrees of physical pain Feeling your heart drop Your stomach twisting, making you nauseous Every bone in your body aching Salty tears The taste of the ocean of emotions on your lips Leaving your face permanently stained Making you think there is no good Nothing left When you’re surrounded by darkness how can you? But, there is a light A light that guides you out of the darkness A light that is so much needed, You can’t help but smile when you see it It brightens your day And when it is there everyday Your days get better And even though that pain will never go away You think about it less And for once You can actually say “I am happy” © 2016 Shi-Ann L.Author's Note
