Venom

I am a testament

to statistic.

I need the validation,

the crutch,

to help me stumble into sunlight,

and breathe,

exhaling the damp sorrow

that poisoned me in the darkness.

But the promise of the antidote

has long danced away from me,

shunned me,

and all that is within me

is devoured by my own venom.
