Sweetness

Sweetness

A Poem by sarah

The young man took the young woman in his arms
He dried her tears
He took her broken body
And tried to heal her with his love

He watched her cry
He watched her wince in pain at his slight touch
He watched her weakness
Grow to strength

He held her close
And cradled her sweetly
As she ran away from the ghosts in her dream
He saw her whimper like a small child

He would rock her back and forth till she fell asleep
He wondered how any man could hurt such a creature
Her sweet innocence astounded him
Her peaceful smile made his heart glow

He wanted to kill the man who hurt her
The man who had broken not only her body
And spirit
But her heart as well

He couldn't help loving her
For her strength
She had everything
He needed

He saved her life
But at the same time
She saved his as well

A beautiful poem with a positive ending. We are allowed to helpful and be kind many times in a life. Love and friendship is returned to kind and loving hearts. A excellent poem. I like the story and the kind emotion of this poem.

Beautiful, heart rending piece...I actually have a lump in my throat reading this...and the final stanza really sums up the sentiment for me....the fact that they actually saved each other....beautiful ending to a painful story....
