Cross My Heart

Cross My Heart

A Poem by Sam Penney

What goes up must come down,
Round and round we go,
I can do nothing but frown,
How do I feel so low?

I look back to the start,
Never saw it coming,
These stabs at my heart,
The endless drumming...

Cigarette in my hand,
I can face it all,
Fingers through the sand,
I'm ready to fall.

This is the end,
I'm getting off the ride,
Nothing left to mend,
I can no longer hide.

Time to face facts,
It's not getting better,
My smiles just an act,
So i write this letter...

I will miss you,
More than you know.
I'll always love you,
More than I show.
