I had the power from young age. Back then I had no control over it. I watched as my so called gift destroyed my family. Some people will say my power is a gift, a blessing. I would say the other way, it is a curse that I am stuck with. At least now I have mastered more or less it's aspects. Well mostly I hide my powers from all living souls. I made the mistake when I was young telling adults, one of the many adopted parents I had. This resulted in many therapy sessions, thinking I am still troubled by my families death. For the past few years tho I have finally settled down with a nice family. Alice the mum, Nate the dad and their two older sons Jack and Matt, the trouble makers. I may have settled with them well but they were far from settling down. We moved from one place to another. Until now, we manage to find ourselves in this relatively little town that has all the necessities for an every day life. The cause of this, well so that we can all finish school in one location before we head to the next step in life. Uni for most of us. I at least have three years before I need to decide. Matt has two and Jack has no time.
"Here we are." Nate speaks with his eyes still glued to the road as he pulls into our new house. The house itself is simply from the outside. Light grey in colour with some white. Many windows that decorate this two floor house.
"Is there a attic?" I question, still looking at the house. From the outside it look promising a porch with a small table and sitting area. Plants, flowers and bushes with a dirt driveway decorate the front of the house.
"Yes it does, Dahlia." Alice replies to my question as always with her cheerful smile. Ever since I became an orphan I stopped going by my actual name instead I chose Dahlia. After a flower which has a few meanings, like elegance and dignity but also betrayal and dishonesty. "We made sure it did just for you." She adds looking at me, I send her a weak smile and a nod. I don't talk much, at least I'm starting to talk more to them. I like this family so I'm trying to let them in the walls I have build around myself. The car comes to a holt and everyone except me rush out to he house securing themselves a room. No need for me tho, since I been with them I ever choose the basement or attic. A little place I feel safe in. My little place. Strolling into the house, first thing I go to see is the kitchen which is joined to the dining room the wall is replaced with windows and a window door that leads to the garden. The garden has many trees on the edge of the garden as well as a swing. Found my little place to read and draw. Score. The basement like in most of our other houses is open plan with three rooms. The main part is a game room with sofas and beanbags. One door leads to a bathroom, another to a little gym or dance room and the last one to a little music room. Once I am done I walk up the stairs to see that they all chose the rooms and are starting to bring in their stuff from the car. I first head up to my little area, climbing up the ladder that is permanently attached to the floor, no need to worry the two trouble makers will lock me up in my room. Not like I will mind it. My room is very much has a simple colour scheme of white, brown and some gold accents. Fluffy white carpet decorate the majority of my light brown wooden floor. I have a wall covered with bookshelf's dedicated to my ever growing book collection. A desk are for my study, beanbags and even my own tv. Two doors stand on either side one leads to my closet and the other one to my own bathroom. My doors to my room as always are open letting everyone to freely walk into my room. For intent now.
"Hey Lia, here is you stuff." Nate brings all my boxes and suitcase that we had in the car, the rest are on the moving truck that hasn't arrived yet. I am so busy looking around my room I didn't even realise Nate moving stuff into my room.
"Do you like your room?"
"Yes I do."
"Ok, I will leave you to settle in." With that he ruffles my hair before leaving my room. Probably to bring in more stuff into the house and to unpack his and Alice room. Anyway I should do the same.
After many hours I finally partially satisfied with the room so far. Once everything will arrive and sorted then I can be fully happy with the room, for sure.
"Dinner is ready." Jack popes his head in and quickly left to head downstairs to food. I didn't realise how soon I was their unpacking till I see through the windows that the sun is down and the moon is already slowly rising. Which means it must be very late after all it is still the end of summer and first day of school starts tomorrow. Since we just moved in and our fridge is empty dinner consists of Chinese and pizza. As soon as I finished eating I bid everyone goodnight and head up to my room for the night. I quickly change into a fluffy long sleeve top and shorts. Tucking into bed. Falling asleep.
