Grasps and Flings   by Sami Khalil

(Happy Valentines)

A snapshot moment

A ventured glance

A stiffened resolve

Your sight compels

Your mystery tells

Your quest swells

Your final signature bears witness to the marching seasons

The relentless reassurance of Native ceremonial dances

The ageless twilight away, in brief declaration of rays scattered

Of clasps and toggles holding jewels in flourished wealth

Owning status, claiming history, founding ideals,

Indelible lessons of a worthy glory, endless love cascades

Caressing grasps and flings, of poets’ wordless ecstasy,

Pilots’ lingering shudders, patients’ slow withdrawals into solitary ambiances

I become orchestrated, neatly enjoined, beauty groomed in the present and presence

When duty calls to portend the unbridled drift into fantasy.

A snapshot moment, of royal pleasures, of endless summons.

I dare not budge. You fill all question marks, the dormant languishing of doubt, the soft lapping of rugged gasps!

"You fill all question marks" when a lover can answer your innermost questions in a way that pleases you, you know you are in the right place. Filled with desire and passion, but elegantly portrayed, Sami. I liked it. Lydi**

' I dare not budge. You fill all question marks, the dormant languishing of doubt, the soft lapping of rugged gasps! '

From start to finish you create a mood, a growing emotion that takes the reader, and I suspect, the writer, into another place. There truly is a richness in your phrasing. an undeniable feeling that what is felt is absolute. A wonderfully creative St Valentine's poem, Sami.

your words make me gasp.....you use such perfect vocabulary in your poems...words that speak volumes and are so poetic...not totally obscure that we need a dictionary to read every line...
just a great balance....and love the journey...and the "unbridaled drift"---

I love that.....m
I kinda went on an astral trip as I read this. I've been furiously writing a book for 6 weeks (immersed) & I see so many of my own themes in your poem (blows me away, the parallels) -- native influences, the miracle of flight & ideals -- seeing "love" in terms of all the history, all the symbols, all the universal truth surrounding a love situation, not just the more typical and focused idea of describing love in terms of a human. I'm very blown away by how this reminds me of how I've been trying to portray "love" in my book! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
