BesottedA Poem by Sami KhalilA modern Shakespearean sonnetBesotted By Sami Khalil A modern Shakespearean sonnet… Love continues into depths of heartbreaks Where besotted sufferers need solace As winds blow miry through valleys and lakes So do the unhinged ones, fanning lawless. Some may feel like a surfeit of blunt knives While others do behold beneath sinkholes Oh, how sweet the days passing time’s archives Winsome are the vivid loves taking tolls. More than parsing water and sovereign air Love is our sustenance and yearning dreams Steadfast kernels layered beyond compare Why not embrace its molten core and streams? Love continues to bestow invisible sighs On cloudy days or clearly mirrored skies. © 2023 Sami Khalil
