Warnings            by Sami Khalil

I pray for a peaceful and just solution for any conflict between people

A modern English sonnet

The sceneries of war become rooted

In us now that we may see the abyss

Bit by bit, nibbling at reasons suited

Gifting caskets where death’s axes all bliss.

Death has aimlessly no color lingering

Where justice walks on a tightrope snugly

Through peril and pain eyes in awe picturing

Fearing loss of precious life cores doubly.

Days are coming when no one has shelters

Holding soft hearts on palms of shaking hands

I pray that treacherous times force dwellers

To seek peaceful solutions where peace stands.

Time comes when the tides pull us further out

To drown mangled bodies in hate no doubt.

The sonnet captures the feelings of many in these violent times. I fear we will see much more blood before this matter is settled.

' Days are coming when no one has shelters- ' Tragically worse hour by hour by hour.

If only poets ruled the world, Sami, perhaps their insight and oft felt twenty four hour a day emotions would counterbalance the ongoing worldwide turmoil. Can we Imagine how all those dear beings are feeling, would we have their courage? Hope seemingly at death's door.

Writers, poets et al, can write using parentheses, variations instead of commands, standing capitals rather than rubble, leaders carrying linguistics rather weapons, etc. Humanity should be chaptered by honest and wise characters.

Your words have such relevant meaning and intention, dear poet:

'Time comes when the tides pull us further out - To drown mangled bodies in hate no doubt.' Start to finish you were poet, in every letter you were the human being.
