Solitary Confinement

Solitary Confinement

A Poem by Sam Lieberman

Floating alone on the waterway
I could not see that my hair was grey
How long did I wait, to see some day
When the sun would shine again?

I could not feel the passing of time
I'm wasting away for some past crime
I longed just to hear some sound or sign
That the sun would shine again.

For without my senses I know not what's real
I sob and I cry and I shriek my appeal
For Heaven or Hell to take me away
From this godforsaken waterway.
