There Lies You and I

There Lies You and I

A Poem by Samuel H. Ludke

From silent steps on the leaves,
We walk down the beaten path,
Here in spring past winter's wrath,
Down the winding forest tunnel,
Down the winding evergreen funnel,
There lies you are I,
Don't you pass us by,
Feel green grass upon your feet,
Feel the chilling snow and sleet,
There lies you and I,
Down the river in our boat,
Twisting and turning in your coat,
The forest is alive with creatures galore,
Come and see them I implore,
Through the ages through your eye,
There lies you and I.
It does not matter girl or guy,
Step right up and don't be shy.
Jump right up and touch the sky,
Walk over to where I'm hiding so sly,
There lies you and I.

A lot of nice imagery in this one. It seems to reflect enduring loyalty. It could be improved by dropping the "s" from 'lies."
