The hullabaloo

The hullabaloo

A Poem by Sanya Darakhshan Kishwar

What is this mayhem
What is this hullabaloo
She was safe inside my home
Deep inside mother's womb
A sudden light broke my sleep
She was taken out, made to weep
What is this mayhem
What is this hullabaloo
She was safe in her home
She was happy there
Then, she was made to leave
The home where she grew,
the place which she knew
Sent to a strange, new place
People call it her new home
She struggles to make new relations
But she forgot, blood relations are always true
Not so true is the new home
What is this mayhem
What is this hullabaloo
She cries wildly out of pain]
A new life is to come
For she is also one
Her family rejects to own
The third time she is refused to be called
A grandchild, a princess
What is this mayhem
What is this hullabaloo
She is laid on the pyre
Her body speaks of the wounds
Her soul had retained
Her clothes all glittery
Still a tear on her dead cheek
shines brighter than them!
