playing dollhouse

playing dollhouse

A Poem by Kara Emily Krantz

she loves him
like a child
loves a
dilapidated
doll.

wants to hug off
all his buttons
and smooth away
his seams.
to wash him
with her hands
and dry him
with her breath.

she wants to love him
and love him
'til there's
nothing
left.

she wants
to dress him
when he's dry.
hold him
while she
cries.
grow old
with him laying
by her
side.

she loves him
like a child.
with innocence
and grace.
from a deep,
deep,
beautiful
place.

she loves him
like a child.
which makes her
young and
naive.

for she was
unaware
that dolls
could
just
leave.

Oh my Kara you never cease to amaze me... quite the twist with this one too which made me have to re-read it and now even more powerful, the innocents of first love is the greatest as you go in feeling total free of borders built by scars of betrayal... once again no one can describe it quite like you, that was a brilliant analogy of the situation. BRAVO my sparkling diamond!!

Bravo!! Nicely done! I think that the only truly innocent love is that of a child, which makes the comparision of loving someone like a child does a doll particularly moving.

wants to hug off
all his buttons
and smooth away
his seams.
to wash him
with her hands
and dry him
with her breath. (such a beautiful stanza)

This piece flows effortlessly, and makes me think about how finite things are in this life. We often treat our relationships like a child does--thinking they would never hurt or leave us, almost if they are a doll, without the ability to walk away. Great read!

That made me sooooo sad.
hold him while she cries...
I felt that deeply, that was the hardest part for me.

Such a poignant ending... painful.
You've expressed yourself magnificently!

This is a simple yet effective metaphor, which you have made your own with your efficient style, never saying more than you need to yet hinting at so much more.

"wants to hug off
all his buttons
and smooth away
his seams.
to wash him
with her hands
and dry him
with her breath."

Your style is flawless and effortless - great work.

I kind of knew where this was going, but still wanted to cuddle with the words. ;-) Beautiful, like its creator.

Love,

Nihad
