the company we crave

the company we crave

A Poem by Kara Emily Krantz
"

I suppose this is sort of an extention of "the company we keep"... with the focus on a romantic partner.

"

To find someone who cannot only hear

-but understand-

the beating of my heart.

Who will start to smile when I laugh

and be happy

for all the gifts I have.

A person with honesty (and just enough tact)

who isn't afraid of change.

A person who is strange enough to tint the world

a different shade

and strong enough to take words back.

A man with a soul as grounded as the earth

and a mind as open as the sea.

A man naive enough to believe in beauty

and the depth of his dreams

yet disillusioned (just enough)

to set him free.

To find someone with curiosity,

who wishes to discover

secret truths.

And a laugh that could shiver the streams.

A man with the seams of his heart prepared to burst

and the quiet confidence of one at peace.

A man with an aura of gentleness and grace

and the sturdy strength of a forest green.

Someone who will lean into the curves

of my embrace

and lace crimson whispers in my ear.

To find someone...

oh, to find someone.

To find him and keep him here.

I am stunned at your capacity for precision...expressing thoughts, longings, wants from multiple vantage points, yet always penetrating the heart of the issue with pinpoint accuracy.

Incredible...'lean into the curves of my embrace...' TS Eliot move over...!
Every line is a new, crystal clear revelation...even 'the forest green...' ;)

My brand new favorite...

Thank for your wonderful work!

Daniel

God I hope this is me. Not for you particularly(though I would be humbled if it were true), but in someone's mind's eye. In someone's heart. I want this to be me. Your description of the ideal mate is so profound, so wonderful. This exemplary individual that you depict is a man that totally embraces the joy of lifeand fully understands the nature of the world. He creates a harmony by digging his his own niche and inhabiting it in a manner that invokes awe and nudges others to asipre for the same greatness. To write a poem that could invoke such a desire in me reminds me exactly why you are one of my favorite poets that I have ever read.

"To find someone who can not only hear" cannot might be smoother.

"A person with honesty (and just enough of tact)" The 'of' is not necessary.

Content and depth of your piece are outstanding.

"A person who is strange enough to tint the world

a different shade" Beautiful....loved this thought. *smiles*

Nicely done!

Interesting poem in many aspects. You are giving us here a different profile of Priunce Charming that cannot but arouse curiosity for it is your own depiction of the desired one. I also like the subtle frankness you showed in stating your longing. The whole emotion is very well translated to the reader.......Wishing you a very nice summer!

The captivating wants and desires that are described have pulled me over the edge, in a way not common to me. It's like I was immersed into a pool of warmed churning water as the passion of your thoughts ignited an impervious flame. All I can say is the heat of your words drive a from a well in your soul. Love the write

beautiful piece. It remeinds me slightly of a piece I did, as I am sure it reminds others of the same open wound longing we all have at one point in our lives. I agree with Forest & Natasha. Excellent piece.

This is great poem to follow the company we keep. I like the strong knowledge of what one wants and needs that shows in this one. So many times we accept what is in front of us instead of waiting for what is right for us. Your poetry is very true, I enjoy your insightful flows they seem clear clean and concise
