Gone (But Never Forgotten)

A poem on a close family member I lost recently.

As time goes flying past,
Muddled up and perplexed
Are old memories and events
And we struggle,
To get a hold on them
Slipping through our fingers,
Like the sands of time.

No last words or hugs
No last smiles or reassurances
No last goodbyes
Broken promises and crushed dreams
Are all that remain.

And the one person
Who was always there
Is not, anymore.

In the blink of an eye,
Our world can collapse
Putting its weight on
Our shoulders, unaware
And lost, all that is left
Our words; unspoken.
