Cold

Cold

A Poem by Sara Elyse Abrams

Cold,

The last thought that forms in my mind before it all goes black.

Cold,

The feeling that haunts my body every waking moment.

Cold,

First it will hurt,

Then the pain becomes so agonizing that I can not move.

The only thought in my mind is “Please, make it stop!”

Then it stops.

Now I feel nothing at all.

I do not feel pain any more.

I do not feel anymore.

I do not smile,

I do not cry.

I can not be afraid,

And I will never feel piqued again.

I feel nothing,

Nothing but the cold.

What a chilling and somber write up. I could feel the cold take over me as I read this and am familiar with this feeling. Is it better to be numb or feel to much I often ask myself? Really good job!
