Summer's Gift

Summer's Gift

A Poem by
"

A boy and a girl. Summer's comfort. Do you see an image now?

"
Hot summers day.
Humid, breathless air.
I guess this is exactly
how you make me feel.
Emotions swirl orange, red, & yellow,
radiating the sun,
and it's everlasting blazing love.

You're like the sweet vanilla,
added to my icecream.
You flavor my life,
like paint flavors it's canvas.
Your my calming breeze,
before the violent storm.

If I could,
I would have left you in my pocket.
Small, and safe,
Living life between
a thin piece of fabric.
A boy and a girl.
Do you see an image now?
The pink and blue episodes,
of drama, and water fights.
The nights of stars,
and warm sand beneath your feet.
Those summer nights were special,
even if just for a little while.

Because in every girl's life,
there is that one boy
she'll never forget;
and the summer,
where it all began.
It's just memories,
Waiting to happen..

i am absolutely stunned by the beauty and innocence of this poem. you have touched on a memory that every young person lived at one time or another and in
sensational form. marvelous imagery, charming metaphor and clever wording make for a perfect combination. only one word i can think of describes this piece: awesome!

Very cute! But I'm confused by the ending, did the boy and girl grow apart? That's the feeling I got from the last stanza. I loved all the metaphors you used. They add to the imagery!

"it's just memories waiting to happen", ah, that's very nice. I like this a lot, especially the way you have made the images look in my mind. Your flow can be a bit awkward at times, yet it still somehow works. Also, a small correction, "Your" should be "you're" in the second stanza. Other than that, very nice!

I love the picture you have here, and the artsy style of your words and how they are positioned on the page. Sweet vanilla speaks to me the most.

Beautifil imagery. A great solid write. I love the hope this poem gives that each girl will have her summer fling/romance with a boy some day and it will be unforgetable. Excellent write!
