Value Yourself....

When someone says, that

you are worthless,

just smile,

and tell it to yourself,

its only because,

they don't know me well...

don't demoralize yourself,

rather,

value yourself...

Don't worry, 

we can't always satisfy others,

so please, 

don't always lose your strengths,

in fulfilling theirs...

first be you,

and

value yourself...

No one in this world,

can understand you,

better than yourself..

except at some phases,

may be, your father and mother...

My friends,

let me make it very clear,

No one in this world

is worthless,

not even the animals....

we all humans have the potential,

and that something,which

people call as 'caliber'..

we all are great in our

own spheres...

we all have everything, that can

turn us to be great in our future..

we all have the right, and the need

to care for ourselves...

rather than cursing,

because of others....

You can convert all the

false talks,

that the people have about

you today,

into something greatly incredible,

if you simply,

have hope and trust in yourself

belief, that you are the best thing

on this earth...

and if you

value yourself...

always remember,

No one and nothing in this world,

can stop you, from

being what you want of you...

except you yourself,

so please,

stop stopping yourself,

because of others..

and value yourself...

Life on this planet has evolved to fill every niche in Nature. Each human being fills some kind of niche somewhere because of that person’s unique abilities, and therein is found that person’s value. I see that I made a comment three years ago. I don't remember doing that! (and I don't actually agree with it!----is there another Great Aunt Astri, I wonder?). You poem reads like a conversation. I imagine that you have cheered up the other person with your good advice. It is very important, as you say, to value yourself. But it must be very hard if others are always denigrating you. A well expressed poem. Well done.

A prose poem. I see. I get confused these days about what actually constitutes a poem. But I do agree with the first Great Aunt Astri ( it may well have been me ... I am getting very forgetful in my old age) about trying to make a lyrical poem on this subject. I would be interested to see it if you do so.

Your poem is lovely as it is, but I often 'experiment' with different 'styles'.
I meant, just another version, perhaps rhyming, or with a formal syllable count , or with a different 'metre', or, perhaps a simile or two, or perhaps a metaphor, or anything you like. Of course, that is just me saying this, but, as I said in my review, your poem read like a conversation (Which is clever and well done). Anyway, let me know what you think.

A remarkable poem that sounds like a declaration of indipendence of ourself. What I appreciate most of your style is the use of a simple verse: no metrics and no rhymes. The poem is free from literary abstraction and goes directly to the point. You express your ideas in the most direct and clear way. Good.

Of course I totally agree with your point of viee and I alsp wish everyone could be free from the Golden Cage of appleasing others. Anyway, I can't denay that the price to pay for indipendence could not be cheap. Choosing to be ourself, could also mean "accepting the idea of being alone against the opinin of the world" . And for someone, loneliness is even worst than a fake personality. For this reason in particular, I believe that a motivational poem like this is very important and never banal.

In short: be strong and carry on like this, no matter if your path may be (sometimes) lonely. You won't be really alone, because also those others who will have done the same choice, will be in the same situation and support you.
