The First Dance of Mine

The First Dance of Mine

A Poem by Savanna Robbins

On pointe, bright lights

My makeup up slightly dripping

Sweat gleaming on my forehead

This year I got the big solo

I have worked hard, practiced constantly

Not I’m here, in my lace costume

With a flowy skirt, & sweetheart neckline

I feel ever so graceful, & like a star

So happy to show off a bit

“It’s nice to finally be noticed”

I thought, as I landed my last leap

And the music stops, I grin and bow
