The Father You Were Not

The Father You Were Not

A Poem by Savanna Robbins

I thought you’d be there

Through the years of my life

From walking me down the aisle

To holding your grandchildren

Yet you betrayed me

In the worst way possible

Now all I have are the memories

The internal scars you left on my heart

That I still attempt to heal from

And every year on this day

I’m reminded of who you should’ve been, and who you became hun
