Cravings

Cravings

A Poem by Shui

I crave. I crave. I crave.

I crave for the Sun to embrace me with heat rays

that would send a blow straight through my chest

break my ribcage

and sheathe what’s been palpitating

in its raw, condensed form.

I crave. I crave. I crave.

I crave at twilight

to walk under shimmering street lamps

I will lift my head up,

slowly admire the placidity of the night sky.

My gaze is down again

but I am now tethered by shady lines

Against the cold, hard lamp posts

Shadows?

I look ahead into nothingness

I crave. I crave. I crave.

To dunk bottles and bottles of alcohol down

Feel them burn my throat

Sizzle, fizzle

I will fall into a trance

And my head will spin.

But more than anything else,

send tingling sensations radiating around my body

to replace that of love
