Little Miss Heartbreaker

Little Miss Heartbreaker

A Poem by Scarlet M.

For my actions, I became unaware,

my word, for leading you into a chimera,

I deeply regret.

A wishful thinking, fool’s paradise,

that’s all it will ever be

to you, and to him, to her and to this.

In a contrite tone, I say

I hope one day they realize

the façade I was pulling.

That the mean looking girl,

who ran around breaking hearts

was just as broken as they are.

One thing I like about poems is that they tell a story from the writer's point of view which makes it more unique. The title may be cliche but the message you conveyed here gives a new definition of being heartbreaker to being heartbroken and I think a lot of people will relate to this. I like your writing style by the way :)

Altho "Little Miss Heartbreaker" is a common story, you've made it sound fresh & original by your unusual point of view in this poem. I like that you've used some unusual word choices, such as "chimera" (which I had to look up) & "contrite" . . . very good job of pinpointing the perfect words. The last stanza, of course, is also very enlightening, as most people never get that far, when describing "Miss Heartbreaker" . . . this is the crux of the message: hurt people do hurtful things.

Story of many lives, I'd say. Nicely written piece, heartfelt, deep and well-structured.
