A Lullaby to Romance

A Lullaby to Romance

A Poem by Maxinne Marie

Haunting melodies cradled

memories of dark romance.

The ancient piano he played

put me in a trance.

Such mystery and solace

when we held each other’s hands.

That moment, all the winged ones

serenaded and we danced

silently, as we both feared

our sweet, forbidden romance.

A lullaby still haunts me

sighing memoirs of that chance.

ancient piano....Beethoven? Mozart? This feels "old" to me, which is a good thing. I just can't get the 9th Symphony out of my head now...
