Pale

Pale

A Poem by Maxinne Marie
"

I am the Snow Queen.

"

Birds and butterflies

shiver in my presence,

blood-red rose petals

fall and shatter

upon a touch of my hand,

becoming crystals of snow

that poison verdant valleys

and glorious sunflowers.

Phoenixes have risen

to silence me forever,

yet they all found

their monstrous wings

among cold, white ashes,

bodies petrified, never reborn.

I longed to end my immortality

yet the fiery-winged had failed.

Forlorn for a thousand dynasties,

never did I cease to wait

for that one ray of starlight

destined to kiss my soul away.

Upon my lips a melody awaits to be

heard when I am finally free.

A requiem for my wintry corpse

he shall play with keys of black and ivory.

And as for love, his soul shall be

entwined with mine for eternity,

no longer frozen, alive as a dream,

amidst auroras of aubergine,

under golden moon and sapphire sun

two spirits shall become one.

The remnant soul of my tragic life

shall be pale no more and release its light.

i love the ending, the tale is a bit haunting at the start then it gets lighter at the end, love that, thank you.
