Dream No More

Dream No More

A Poem by Maxinne Marie
"

A love is a dream. A dream is a lie.

"

And now that she has awoken

From the deep slumber of a hundred years

Never to return again into the world

Of foolish emotions and bizarre insanity

All was a fairytale dream

That began with a foolish desire

That it seemed to them that fate

Had brought his love to her

And so the tale was written in memoirs of retrospect

Masked with almost deceiving perfection

As each dreaming day went on

Never wanting to part from the dream

But one day she did understand

That the dream she had commenced

Was all a nightmare schemed to make her cry

And from that broken dream

Of a fairytale that turned out to be a lie

The wrath of a fragile heart

Led her to say goodbye

Such sweet sorrow that wreathed her soul

But then no one could behold the tears

That she was reckoned to cry

For her soul was strong and her heart was free

Never broken by that memory

And so she had written in her destiny

With no regrets nor uncertainty

"I shall dream of him for never more

And he shall never dream of me."

I liked this alot. It had a Shakespearen feel to it. I loved the flow and wording. Very good imagery. You seem toexpress very well the end of a dream this girl had of love and this guy. Very good work!

Oh wow...

There is so much heartfelt material...and I could well understand and relate to the nightmarish torment that can come with not desiring to see something end.

Lovely work!

Nice piece... "Never wanting to part from the dream..." is so true, as dreams are so aluring and seem so far from reach. To relinquish a dream is to have a small part of us die. Keep up the great work.

I love this...
There is a truth in your words that all too often we are blind to...
Very bitter sweet.

beautiful!

I agree, this does have a dark and gothic feel to it. Well done and atmospheric.

Hold the presses! Could somebody get Ann Rice on the phone and tell her to come by and read this piece?! This work speaks with such gothic heaviness, almost like some sort of Cinderella-like love story, though one about broken hearts and deceit. The speech at the end speaks with its own finality. quite daunting and poignant.
