The best of times, the worst of times

The best of times, the worst of times

A Poem by vindictivesunshine

Vertigo.
Still, ice breathe.
Lollipops and bag juice.
Lunch kit daze, in shorts.
Summer wishes, star dreams.
Iridescent distractions, a mind explosm.
Anxiety attacks with no symptoms, too busy, fireflies to catch.
Summer romps through imaginary meadows,
and saving the world 'cause "I am Batman"
Harmless games with only elbow bruising repercussions,
chasing the ice-cream trucks down the street, jingling coins.

Then comes Mary in her flower dress,
beauty's definition re-defined.
Stolen kisses and secrets under finger painting tables.
Cookies missing at snack time and juice box dilemmas.
Giggles, giggles, giggles.
Barber chair nightmares, potty successes, training wheel liberty.

First fall, watch the blood drip.
Wailing and hollering in delay,
Mommy's voice and a sesame street band-aid makes it better.
Feet swimming in daddy's shoe.
The adorable blank, all-unknowing stare.
Eight o'clock bed time.

This reminds me of a lot of good times... It's been a while since I thought the world was my oyster. There's something about growing up that's... cold. This brought me back to times that were warm, and full of love and carelessness..
Thank you. xx

I like this. It is the picture delightful about childhood memories. All of it reminds me of experiences I lived, either of my own or those with my kids.

Images are thronging my mind right now, chasing the icecream truck, being too busy having fun and exploring to worry about little things like learning and being on time for meals etc.

I was never Batman but I was saving the world from Indians with my dolly peg gun and my fence paling sword.
My pirate ship was the biggest and best and I loved making everyone 'walk the plank" a narrow board bridging a small ditch, and how we laughed when the 'oldies' fell into the two inches of water lurking at the bottom.

This is an adorable, fun filled piece with images of long lost youth, and a reminder that those days will always live in our hearts.

LOVE it
