Whole Truth

Whole Truth

A Poem by schlanks

I forget I'm okay
In the same way
You dream at night

Time loses linearity
As haunted memories
Come alive

Did you take more from me than you plotted
Or was it everything that you wanted
Even in my regrets
You could say I said

Shame replays the absence
Of resistance
From the wear

But what responsibilities
Does a fourteen
Year old bear

Leveraged everything I was hoping
You were the death of me from the moment
You spent a year on me
Til you could say I said
yes
I guess

But would you admit
Exactly what you did

Would you admit
Exactly what you did
Or do you change it
When you play it in your head
Is it different
When you tell it to your friends

And if it is
Ask yourself this
What's wrong with
Exactly what you did

I have only read the first three lines and I instantly raced to begin my review, what a punchy opening!!!!!!!! This is such a striking piece. It can hold so many dark themes, all held in elegant wording. There is a certain suffocation to keeping silent about your pain, and you captured that well. :)

Thank you very very much. This was an important one to me that I wrote over a long period of time.

wow - this one is deep. there are always two sides to each story.
the truth is only revealed when both parties speak their peace.
{could feel the emotion behind not being allowed to speak.}
