The Tulip

The Tulip

A Poem by LSS
"

Her Birthday

"

          The Tulip

The beauty of the tulip
Is deeper than you see
Its stem is strong, a solo
It’s hue the green of sea
Its planted in the springtime
The early fall is best
Its blooms are bold and vibrant
Much brighter than the rest
The root is gnarl with tuber
It multiplies beneath
It comes back in the springtime
Each bloom a glowing wreath
Yet each year there’s one thing
As bold as my tulips
Reminding me of your Love,
Your beauty, your two lips.

A Well Written Poem!

What a delightful poem, meter perfect, and, such clever play of words at the end! If you wrote this is a birthday gift for your lady-love, it must have been the best gift ever.

Have to say here and now, there's nothing quite like tulips! Thanks for sharing and raising a smile.

Nice job, Larry! A truly fitting paean to your lady-love! I'd long heard the beauty in that single word, but have never developed it. Nicely put, ole son! Mark

What a sweet write for your love. I love the analogy with a tulip. Very descriptive and a lovely way to say "I love you" to that special someone. :-) Great job, Larry and I am sure your tulip agrees!

Thank you, my friend, for the flowers of your words. You placed a smile right in my heart.

Living in the land of tulips allows me to understand the magic of exploding bulbs and the magic of blossoming words.

I like the subtle double entendre on the tulips' very name -- i.e. tulips = two lips.
