The God

The God

A Poem by Sarah J Dhue
"

Poem from the POV of a deity.

"

I sit upon a throne of praises

Stare down upon a world of woes

Temples and idols built in my image

Songs and tales of fallen foes

My name upon their breath

Food and other offerings at night

I prance through their dreams

Then worship starts at day’s first light

I have never known a true touch

My heart has never fluttered

And my eyes have never swelled with tears

My house is always clean, never cluttered

I have no things or need to keep

I’ve only heard of blistering heat and frigid cold

They all look up, but know not that I look down

I’ll never know what it’s like to be in man’s world

I've been wandering... Logged in because this ONE caught and held my view. Perspective IS everything isn't it? You caught the essence of perspective here - at least for me.

Come by and say "Hi." anytime. I have a sense that the conversation would be interesting.

Take care,
Chris

Perspective of a deity, coming off as lonely. Worshipped at light of day but to never feel touch. Beautiful read.

With love,

Matthew

as Joan Osborne sang...."what if God was one of us, a slob like one of us, on the bus like one of us"
and yet this perspective is so innovative...that he would be up there looking down and have one regret...that he would never actually know what it feels like to be a mortal...one who is not Supreme, untouchable...but one who could just relate normally with other humans.
intriguing piece....

Why would you have to write this? It's perfect really, but tragic. What a reminder of man's inequity. Why do they disown the one they so indirectly honor?

Why did they change the plan for a better tomorrow? Why do they make the one that loves them so invisible and heartbroken?

Why do we fight when we should love? Why hate the one who can destroy you who chooses not to, and instead flicks you with the wind, reminding you of your imperfection?
