A Note in an Orange Balloon

In response to a challenge

If today were a color, today would be an orange day

Bright, fiery, fun

If today where a sound, it would still be orange

Vibrant, loud, bold

 

If I could put today in a balloon it would be in an orange one

There would be a note attached

I would surrender it to the sky

I'd watch it go, sailing far and high

 

It would come down someplace far away

You would find it, perhaps in a tree

I hope the note is still attached

because this is what it would read

 

(I wrote this note for you, just to make you smile

I sent it in this balloon, I hope it went a mile

Should you need a friend, I wrote my address on the back

I hope you write me back and if you do, send along an orange balloon or two

so I can write a note back to you.)

 

My day is orange today

Because I am happy in the warmth

So I send this day to you

In all of oranges hues.

What a cool concept! I never would have thought of releasing a balloon with a note to brighten someone else's day. I have let balloons go in memorial for people, or I have written feelings on them and let them fly away, but never a note. (Now that I think about it, the environment is probably screaming at me for all the balloons I have let fly in the past.) I liked the different shades of orange font you used too. Subtle, but still really nice.

I would prescribe for an orange day that you simply make it one. Where the color buy an orange cream sickle. Or eat some orange sherbet. Feel the color, it's there, right under your nose. You can have an orange day too. Thank you so much, I am very glad that you liked it.

Very cool. That was a challenge issued to our Poetry Group by MusicMania. I haven't done this one yet. My life seems to be in full Technicolor® glory: I just can't pick only one color to write about! :D

Hmm, I didn't see MusicMania on it, I guess I wasn't paying attention. I understand where you are coming from. My favorite color is orange and I think I feel most days that way. Some are grey but not very many. Mostly bright, vivid, loud colors. I am a happy man. Thank you. Glad you liked it.

BTW: This was the a challenge to name a color that illustrates your day when you wrote it. Jordan's color challenge is to tell us all about the color in a way that makes it clear what the color is; but also, to tell us in a way that never names the color.
