nothing really prepares us when it comes to death..we never know when will be our time so we must do things that will not make us regret...
your poem is nice by the way :) nice work. keep it up
Is it a He or a She? Reading this poem reminds me of the death of my brother. He died during his sleep and in the morning he never woke up again. Its quite sad, but true. Death will not wait for you to prepare.

I see death as androgynous. Thank you. I am glad that you liked it. And I truly appreciate it.

I like it as as she. Great writing. Very imaginative.
well isn't this a deliciously wicked dark tale of deathly shadows and the reaper who holds the key to your destiny.. nice flow and imagery.. I could hear the evil lurking, and feel the goosebumps as the chill of your words tickled my mind.. nicely done Derick..

You're more than welcome Derick, it is always a pleasure :)
Its hard to imagine calling a poem about death beautiful but this certainly qualifies as such and an instant inclusion in my library, thanks for sending me this, i love it :)

I enjoyed that you portray death as a "long lost friend." I think that many people use dehumanizing traits to instill a sense of worry(not that anything is wrong with that), but it is refreshing to be reminded that death is simply a part of life. Well done!

I take this as a caveat. Anytime I hear about death it is a warning for us to remember the time we have left and try to help others I am reminded by many writers recently.

You know, I can write about almost any subject, in poetic form and even an ocasional short story, but I find it most difficult to write about myself.
