A Poem by Sue.donym
"

The story of a past relationship, I had to start my life over and this is my perspective of the past 2 years being taken for granted.

"
How has time flown by,
faster than I could even blink,
fast like pictures falling from a scrapbook.
Over six hundred days of intimacy and joy
mixed with just as many tough times and arguments,
minor buffoonery turned to monstrous blow ups.
hysterics melds with forgiveness..
-although masked by delusion
we would go foraging for happy memories..
-although just enough to survive
Inconceivable naïveté prompted by inexperience and blind trust.

At one point I was foolish enough to call this charade love..
even this obnoxious puppeteer must have a string or two,
and as we dangle from our strings for over six hundred days
the pull of gravity will conquer and reign
and an era falls in the process..

How could you try to compare me,
the person you've become is scary,
but as you used to diminish my position,
compromise my confessions for your personal impression,
for your legacy to stretch to infinity,
though your toxic masculinity
cant mask your laugh, superciliously
~

somewhere i read that the genius in a poem in in the re-writing over and over ;) i can feel the pain in this ..and the youthful search for something real in a relationship ..to easy to be taken advantage of ..to be full of passion to be able to "see" with the mind ... to be hopeful .. to hurt ... some of the language see a little out of synch with your young character ... "buffoonery" and "superciliously" ... they work; but I have a hard time believing them in the musings of your protagonist ... then again you seem mature for a high school student .. so perhaps this is part of your "voice" ;)

Nice writing style to capture the reader's attention. Relationships are like road work. It paves the way for a smoother road later on.Don't worry you'll be known as "the girl that got away" for the rest of his life
