Homebody

Homebody

A Poem by Sam Dugan
"

Home is a comfortable prison

"
The thermostat is set exactly the way I like
predictable and controlled
in my waking and sleeping

I wake with the essence of comfort
creatures of comfort snuggle with me
all day long if I let them

I peep the outdoors from a distance
A thirty year old window admits
only sparing unpredictability

The world is stagnant, predictable, here.
Locking myself in
Instead of creeping into chaos.
