Dance with the Devil

Dance with the Devil

A Poem by Michael G. Smith
"

Playing with fire

"

Darkness, my forbidden lover
I shall forsake the bride and let light go
Shamelessly further follow sure death
Into seduction's twisted tango throes

Allow hot breath and roaming hands
Willingness within the waltz of witcher's dance
Accept the spell which soul has cast
Straight from novels classic; spun tales of  "Devil's romance

Darkness, tis' thee my forbidden lover
In black gown conspire away my worth
Twirling dip this broken spirit
All awhile I wonder why I hath not read thy endings first

So, just another tale, taste of kiss taboo
Each one more bitter than the last
Affairs of sinful hearts; caught in careless whispers
A fly in damnation's sweet and oily trap

Soon I shall become the burden turn to laden dust

Within thy savage grip to be as nothing

A pool of salt wetted ash, the weakness of another spurned

And alas, merely a syllable of thy last echo laughing

"Unto binds of novels; eternal pages of "The Devil's romance"

Lovely line. Tantalizing and dark. Like a poem form of Wine and Dark Chocolate.
