Clouds Overhead

Clouds Overhead

A Poem by Atlas

Clouds Overhead

There are two layers today. The first a

Thick satin sheet; its beauty lies in the

Vastness of its expanse. Though the incessant

Barrage of the Sun cannot penetrate

This atmospheric blanket, the soothing

Caress of the gentle winds usher in

The next part of its oceanic infinity.

In the second layer lies imperfections.

Notably separated, these smears are

The fuel for imagination. If the

First layer is an ocean, the Second

Must be the mountains; seen from afar these

Clusters of flaws seem to join together,

Creating something that can only be

Admired from a distance because when

We find ourselves at the foot of the mountain

And gaze up at the towering peak, it

Is only then that we truly understand

The journey that is required to reach

Up and touch that perfect infinity.
