Narnia

Narnia

A Poem by Pól

Lush warm blades
dappled wet with morning dew
caress my feet
cleanse my soul

as i set my course

from Eoin's land

to Narnia.

From verdant land to aqueos spa, depart

bidding farewell to Niall

and his nine hostages

to seek an invisible castle

where Uidilín reigns

and Patrick is mourned.

On and on, the march

til veridian fields surrender

to a hillock great

where Shimna flows

through forest green and thick

to the Ocean

On and on, further still

To Borcha's hills; rising rising,  majestic from Sea

 Bearneagh, Commedagh, Meelmore

Binnian,Corragh,Muck

Swimming... across a lake of foxes

to a valley,... quiet,... still.

A glen of priests peering...

skywards, offering homage

to Domhangart.

"Oh Mary this London's a wonderful sight"................I hope one day to see this for myself the Shimna with the Mourne Mountains as a backdrop. A beautiful and romantic portrayal of a beautiful place. You weave mystical phrases with evocative descriptive words and capture the essence of Irish landscape and tradition with ease. A beautifully described piece. Just wonderful and breath taking Paulo, wonderful!

It's great, and the ending does it for me. I liked; From verdant land to aqueos spa, depart

thank you
One of my favorite books as a child was The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, I also loved the rest of the books in The Chronicles of Narnia. I am not sure that you are actually writing about this place in your poem here, but this is beautiful Paulo.

Now that this is updated:

I love the way you shared a piece of your culture and the place you live and love. You make Narnia's beauty so apparent to the reader. I felt as though you were a guide here, showing we the readers onward!

My favourite part:
'swimming across a lake of foxes
to a valley,... quiet,... still.
A glen of priests peering skywards
to Domhangart.'

Wonderful, thank you for sharing friend!

This is honestly so strange, I made a Narnia reference in a poem I wrote earlier today.. (the creation scene in 'The Magician's Nephew').

I really enjoy pairing this with my pre-existent knowledge of Narnia and living it out in my head the way you have shed this light upon it from your own perspective. Kind of like... feeling out how it would be to be -- you in Narnia. It says 'A Work in Progress', alert me when there is more! Bravissimo!
