List of Twelve

List of Twelve

A Poem by Steffi Emeigh
"

words were drawn from the feelings given by random phrases and placed in one poem

"

The air is cool and the grass is damp

With an early morning's dew,

Or possibly my tears as I must wake early.

The car is filled to the brim

Threatening to throw out all its contents at the slightest sneeze.

Finally the gluttonous car was filled with humans

And we were of.

Of for an adventure and for fun,

But the dream was killed for a moment.

A sweet yet bitter smell flowed through the open door.

It was a familiar smell

Promising journey.

It was not pleasant, but not unwelcome.

I held cardboard planks bound to a multitude of pages

And decided to open it.

It creaked like a door

And erupted with a smell.

A smell as unexplainable as gasoline,

But yet familiar and promised a journey of its own.

I waited for the car to satisfy its appetite.

I took in the senses around me,

The smell of gasoline,

The sounds of cars,

The sight of this amazing journey for me to read

And for me to soon witness for myself.
