Love of Christ

Love of Christ

A Poem by Tyler P

There's one thing I'll never understand
You looked upon me
Saw me festering in my lies
Wallowing in my lust
Burning with passion and worldly desires
My every thought filled with selfish fires
Willingly walking towards death
Choosing to walk with my eyes closed
The fire approaching
And You
The God of this Universe
The epitome of all that is good and worthy
Thought to yourself
After looking at the trainwreck that is me
And said, "I'll die for him"
I no longer need food
Nor do I need water
I need no happiness
I need no fulfillment
Nor do I need enjoyment
So come what may
There is naught but one thing I need
That I may have power
To comprehend
How wide and long and high and deep
Is the love of Christ

The circumstances under which this was written seem to point to a pivotal and or emotional response from outside circumstances. I love the way you have worded this, and in fact, I think not rhyming everything together adds to the power and depth. It keeps the poem from being cheesy, and it really helps stir up the reader, especially myself. The wide depths of Christ's love is too great to fully ever comprehend, and that my friend, is what you did so well in capturing with a heavy heart, and a pen. Thanks for sharing!

Yes His love is great and at times hard to believe how much He does love us. I like how you wrote this one, describing our sinful nature and yet He still died for us because He loved us. It's good to know that someone loves us this much no matter what we have done. This was pretty good for a short amount of time it was written.

Good Job
