Heartbroken

Heartbroken

A Poem by Essa G

I turn my head

My body shaking

Behind me he stands

Motionless

I chase the air

My vision blurring

I cannot turn back

Or I will be sorry

I should never have trusted

And never again

Will I place my heart

In dangerous hands

My lesson was learned

To be truthful at start

To be careful in middle

To be strong at end

Always trust you

Not anyone else

For love isn’t easy

It’s not what you think.

I am enamored with the lines "I chase the air My vision blurring" as it leaves me with a sense of grasping for something invisible and/or intangible, an experience to which I so profoundly relate. I have never before seen these lessons articulated in quite such a poignant way. May the speaker grow to love and trust their own self as well as demand that likewise from the world around them. Thank you.

I love to sing and baking, but singing the most. Writing is more of a hobby for me. I've written a novel called 'Silver' and I'm in the process of writing the sequel, which is called Prophetess. I hop.. more..
